According to my knowledge, the H23A3 was offered in both the Japanese & European markets. I asked Steve @ hmotorsonline, but have forgot what vehicle he said the motor came out of, in Japan. In Europe, this motor came out of the Accord wagon. There is a lot of false information floating around about this particular engine - hell, I could even be wrong - so I would give hmotorsonline a call and find out for sure.
However, upon retrieval of my H23A3, everything Hawkze posted is correct - different valve cover, internal coil distributor, NO knock sensor, and auto tranny. Everything else about the motor is exactly identical to that of the H23A1 motors that we are familiar with in the states. Mine is an OBD1 engine.
You will need to remove the knock sensor from your blown H23A1 and use it on the H23A3. Same with the external coil distributor from the blown motor, swap it over. Do not use the internal coil distributor from the H23A3.
swap the entire intake manifold/injectors, distributor, timing sensors and lower timing gear from your old engine. pick up new oil pump if the jdm motor doesn't have the crank angle sensor mounting spots. Basically your just using the block and head from your new motor. don't forget new seals water pump and timing belt + and timing tensioner.
you basically just use the new long block. everything else if i remember correctly from when i did thid i used from my old motor. the distributors are different. there was something back by thr manifold that i used from the jdm motor but i forget exactly what it was cuz it was a year ago i did this. but yea just use everything from your old motor.
H23A3 is from EDM Accord SRi.
The harnesses are the same except knock sensor which is non-existant in A3 (90% true).
A3 will have an internal coil dizzy, but you can use A1 dizzy instead. The rest shoul be the same.

yeah, not Sri, but iSR
KS is non existant, but the whole harness in A3 is Accord-way not Prelude-way (I have just checked) i.e is coming across the engine bay- one end is going to ECU and the other to the underdash fuse box. Use your A1 harness then and A3 ECU.

There is no place to put KS as in this place the oil pressure sensor is mounted.
Its just like doing a JDM H22 swap. The European motor was in a RHD lude right? SO yes you could us your USDM distributor and fuel rail.
