Incluso si Honda saca un nuevo deportivo que pudiera más o menos considerarse "el nuevo S2000", tal como está la marca en Europa habría que ver si se decidirían a venderlo aquí. J@$~#R si hasta han decidido eliminar el Accord de la gama imaginaros !  Podría ser que se vendiera solo en UK, lo cual sería muy triste...

 

Otra cosa que preocupa es que últimamente, al menos para modelos "flagship", Honda está tardando mucho en pasar de primer prototipo / concept a modelo final de serie, lo del NSX es escandaloso y se teme que al final pueda ser un fiasco por no ser ni chicha ni limoná.

 

Se ha especulado mucho que el nuevo sustituto podía basarse en los concept OSM y S660, al menos por lo que a estética se refiere, pero hay muchos interrogantes en el aire: híbrido? el motor turbo del nuevo Civic Type-R?

 

Honda parece estar debatiéndose entre un dilema de filosofía / política / imagen de compañía: marca verde, impulsora de coches más ecológicos y racionales, o mantener su pedigrí de marca con fuerte herencia deportiva proviniente de sus experiencias en competición.

Si en experiencias de competición le fuese bien últimamente...pero me temo que ni eso.

Qué penita. La gente esperando TypeRs, HRVs...y el NSX que no llega. Ah! Por no hablar del Jazz del cual casi no hay unidades y te intentan encasquetar un Civic.

Sí, oigo por ahí que como no quieras un Civic o un CRV, los tiempos de espera últimamente son de pena. Para cuando recibes el coche ya han salido 4 competidores nuevos y has cambiado de idea    o recibes un coche que ya es un clásico

More Details Emerge on Honda’s S2000 Revival

We’ve been reporting on rumors of Honda’s on-again, off-again, on-again plans to create a three-pronged lineup of sports cars for some time. In 2015, the first of that threesome arrived in the form of the S660 microcoupe powered by a mid-mounted turbocharged 660-cc inline-3. Then last year, the long-awaited NSX supercar, with the mid-mounted twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 aided by a few electric motors, appeared at the top of the automaker’s lineup under its Acura brand.

The big question inside Honda’s product-planning department has been whether to add a third sports car that would slot in between the S660 and the NSX. The main issue, according to one Honda source, is that, since the S660 is Japan only and the NSX is an Acura, that leaves U.S. Honda dealers with no sports car to sell. Given that the United States is the company’s biggest market by far, it makes sense for a sports car to be created for U.S. Honda dealers. Now more details about that car—a revival of the S2000—have emerged.

Honda launched the original S2000 on its 50th anniversary, in 1998. Twenty years on, it’s time to do it again. Our source reveals that Honda will commemorate its 70th anniversary, in 2018, by unveiling an S2000 replacement along with an RC213V-S superbike.

The S2000 replacement was to employ the engine from the Civic Type R, but that plan is no more. “Sure, the Type R’s 2.0-liter turbo is a great engine,” said our source, “but by 2018, that would be old news. We need to take things forward. As a celebratory model, the sports car must be special, so it must have a new powertrain and a unique chassis.”

Japan’s Holiday Auto magazine reported that the next-gen S2000 will employ a two-stage electric boosting system. Similar to a technology developed by Mitsubishi, the system consists of an electrically driven supercharger, a conventional turbocharger, a bypass valve, and other components. Tests by Mitsubishi showed that such systems are not only compact and lightweight but achieve better fuel efficiency than current twin-turbos and nearly eliminate turbo lag. So throttle response is expected to be sharper than current turbos.

According to our source, a design almost identical to Mitsubishi’s system will be bolted onto a longitudinally mounted 2.0-liter inline-four, making in excess of 320 horsepower. We’re also told that the S2000 will be fitted with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transaxle to optimize weight distribution.

We can expect to see the S2000 replacement unveiled in the fall of 2018 at either the Paris auto show in September or the Los Angeles auto show in November, with the latter most likely. Expect the revived roadster to have a sticker price somewhere in the neighborhood of $50,000.

On the cover of Holiday Auto’s January 2017 issue is their latest rendering of a Honda S2000 successor that looks very much like an Acura – it’s got the diamond pentagon grille, jewel eye headlights, and a front fascia that reminds us a lot of the Acura Precision Concept. Swap out that Honda badge and you have the a new Acura roadster.
Don’t get your hopes up though, in the past few years Holiday Auto has rendered several versions of the next S2000.

Por mi enfermedad dicen ( nunca he subido en ninguno) que no puedo ir en hibridos o electricos, asi que me toca descartarlo, aparte que esteticamente me parece un horror).

 

Me tocara pasarme a un Boxster S.

Me pregunto quien hará el coche. Lo digo más que nada porque el nsx nuevo se hizo en USA.

Seré raro o especialito, pero que lo hagan los japoneses para mi es importante, el no poder imaginarme al ingeniero tomando notas de cada apriete que le da el mecánico con la llave inglesa, como si la vida les fuera en ello, le quita la mitad de la magia al coche.

Mientras no hagan un brz segunda parte... minimo 250cv sobrealimentado, frenos de 340 con 4-6 pistones  y si eso una version hibrida para los comeflores. Todavia me acuerdo de los protos del subaru sucesor del hawkeye y sacaron el culo huevo.....

Yo creo que si lo fueran a lanzar el año que viene, en el 70 aniversario de la marca, alguna mula hubiesen cazado por ahí. Hoy en día no es fácil desarrolar algo sin que nadie lo haya visto a un año y poco de su fecha de lanzamiento....

Por otro laso 320CV se me antojan cortos comercialmente (de sobra si van alojados en un roadster ligero) sabiendo que el nuevo TupeR ya anuncia igual potencia.
